Council President Nikolić underlined that all Sino-Serbian cooperation channels were open. “The friendship with China, which we cemented six years ago, is extremely important to Serbia. Our friendship is historic, and it will last forever. China supports Serbia on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, and Serbia endorses the “One China” policy. Serbia has a lot to offer to China, especially in agriculture, as it produces healthy food”, Council President Nikolić said, among other things.
Shanghai Vice Mayor Peng Chenlei underlined that the aim of the Chinese delegation’s visit was to improve communication between Shanghai and Belgrade in particular, and between the Serbs and the Chinese in general. “I can see particular potential for the enhancement of the two cities’ cooperation in areas of education, tourism and civil defence”, he pointed out.
The Shanghai Vice Mayor acquainted Council President Nikolić with the current situation and successes, as well as with dilemmas and challenges facing the densely populated Shanghai.
In a very cordial meeting, the two collocutors noted that the Serbia-China cooperation had been expanded to virtually all areas of life, and that this was the best guarantee of their common future, primarily based on either similar or identical political positions on all important global issues and solid mutual support in international fora.
