Council President Nikolić sends a condolence message to the bereaved family of the former President of Cyprus Dimitris Christofias and to the people of Cyprus

President of the National Council for Coordination of Cooperation with the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China and former President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolić sent a message of condolence following the demise of former President of Cyprus Dimitris Christofias. The message reads as follows:

“I was deeply saddened by the news that former President of Cyprus Mr. Dimitris Christofias, with whom I had the privilege to forge a profound friendship, has passed away. We will remember him for his great and unbreakable friendship with Serbia and the Serbs. When the situation in the 1990s reached its climax due to the sanctions, the civil wars that swept through the former Yugoslavia and during the brutal NATO aggression, Dimitris Christofias stood by us, helping us to the best of his ability, and that was much more compared to what many more powerful countries and nations did at the time. It is for this reason that we will never forget him. My deepest condolences go to the family and to the people of Cyprus. May his memory live”.
