Meeting with Ambassador of the Russian Federation

President of the National Council for Coordination of Cooperation with the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China Tomislav Nikolić sat down today with Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Serbia His Excellency Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko.

The Ambassador extended President Putin’s gratitude for the congratulatory message he had received from Council President Nikolić on the occasion of his birthday.

The meeting centred on the Russo-Serbian relations and prospects for further enhancement of cooperation.

Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko said that the Embassy of the Russian Federation highly appreciated and held in high regard the work of the National Council and that it would do its utmost to strengthen the cooperation, adding that he would personally contribute to this objective.

The interlocutors noted that today’s meeting between the Presidents of Serbia and Russia was one of the pivotal events symbolizing the brotherhood and closeness between the two nations. Its importance extends beyond reaching deals in areas of energy and economy, to include the analysis of other forms of cooperation.

They also agreed that Serbia and Russia had an identical approach to the necessity of holding political talks for the purpose of preventing any local or international conflicts.
